The Everlasting Gospel – Heaven’s appeal to enter into covenant with God:

 “Fear God and give Him glory for the hour of His judgment is come, and worship Him who created.”

God’s covenant - the basis for secure personal identity

Their sins I will remember no more

Justifier, Forgiver, Advocate

 Clear judicial standing, acquittal, in the judgment.

 The power of the fear of God  overcomes all other fears.

 The fear of God enables us to face the judgment unafraid.

 Giving glory to God overcomes pride.

Lies of Satan: You must by your good works earn God’s salvation and avoid punishment; motivated by fear of failure and fear of punishment.

 God’s Truth: There is no need to work for salvation and God’s acceptance because salvation is a free gift and the Judge is on your side.

I am perfectly justified,  completely forgiven, and fully accepted.

 Increasing freedom from the fear of failure; desire to pursue the right things-Christ and His kingdom; love for Christ. Increasing freedom from the fear of punishment; patience and kindness toward others; being quick to apply forgiveness; deep love for Christ.

2^nd Angel’s Message:

Heaven’s appeal to escape the judgments on covenant unfaithfulness:

  “Babylon is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”

 [Babylon as bondage]

 Seeking personal identity outside God’s covenant leads to bondage

 They shall be my people and I will be their God.

Christ as the Heavenly Bridegroom, God as Heavenly Father, Infinite Lover.

 Intimate personal relationship with God through Christ’s covenant faithfulness; the antidote to ‘fornication.’

 The power of the love of God liberates us from the bondage of looking for love in all the wrong places.

Lies of Satan:  Look for love wherever you can find it; motivated by fear of rejection.

 God’s Truth: There is no need to look for love in all the wrong places because Jesus, the heavenly Bridegroom, so loved that He gave Himself for you.

I am deeply loved;I experience the security of belonging.  

Increasing freedom from the fear of rejection; willingness to be open and vulnerable; able to relax around others; willingness to take criticism; desire to please God no matter what others think.

3^rd Angel’s Message:

Heaven’s warning against the life-damaging consequences of covenant unfaithfulness:

 “If anyone worships the beast and his  image, and receives his mark, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God.”

 [beast worship as idolatry]

 Seeking personal identity outside God’s covenant damages self and others

 I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts.
(Hebrews 8:10,11)

The Lamb as all-sufficient Provider and all-powerful King

 To worship is to trust God for everything, relinquishing control through surrender.

  The power of the worship of the Lamb transforms us and liberates us from the need to control others.

 Worship the Lamb and become like the Lamb. 

Worship the beast and become like the beast.

Lies of Satan:

Find your personal significance through power and control of others; motivated by feelings of shame and inadequacy.

 God’s Truth: There is no need for beasts (idols), substitutes that do not satisfy,  because the Lamb is all you need.

In Jesus I am fully satisfied; He is the source of my significance.

 Increasing freedom from feelings of shame. Christ-centered self-confidence; joy, courage, peace; desire to know Christ; respect for others and no need to control others; rest and contentment.
